Bangkok Part III

Welcome back to Bangkok - where your shoes must be removed before you head into any temple.
The Golden Buddha.  Very interesting fact, many of the Buddhas that were made of gold or any other valuable mineral were painted over during war times,so that if it was taken the captures wouldn't know it's worth.  The Golden Buddha has that history, and when they found out it was gold they must have been pretty excited!
From the Golden Buddha we moved on to the Reclining Buddha.  To say it's big is an understatement.
Pretty spectacular.
The feet were mother of pearl and have a very unique design on them,
Wat Pho, where the reclining Buddha lays, is a beautiful area.  The architecture is amazing, and there is so much to look at!
We found out when we got there that all these little temple buildings are graves where the ashes of the deceased are placed.
We walked around for a while just admiring all of the colors and shapes!
There were some Thai kids walking around asking us questions in English and we had to write our response on their piece of paper.  Great way to practice their English and it was pretty cute too.
A monk walking around the temple.

Happy Thursday!

3 Things I'm Loving Right Now

Big news everyone - I am headed to Thailand in two days!!  I leave early Sunday morning and will be gone for a couple weeks.  I am so excited to spend some time with family and explore.  This week I've been preparing, and bought a few new things for the trip.  Including these sunglasses.  Finally found aviators that fit my face!
This cute sundress from Old Navy that I picked up for $14, can't resist that!  It'll be perfect for dinner one night.
My travel pillow.  I realize that I am going to look like a huge dork, but if it allows me to sleep more comfortably on a plane I'm all for it.  It even has a chin strap --- just in case it wasn't ridiculous enough.  I'm guessing everyone will be wanting to use it though once I've slept for 8 hours straight.

Have a great weekend everyone!

5 Things I'm Loving - Nantucket

The streets.  Some aren't that bike friendly, but there's so much character and beauty it all works out.
Sconset brownies.  Oh.  My.  God.  Please go get one now.
One of my good friends, Hussey, is apparently famous on the island!
The White Elephant car.  If you get married this is what they'll drive the bride around in, pretty cool.
I loved the view of the water from our room's balcony.  I don't think I'd ever get tired of looking at that.

Have a great weekend everyone!

New York City by night...

Last photos of my trip to New York.  I explored the city after my work day was over, and here are some of my finds as I walked around!
I stayed in Times Square ... talk about information overload.

I am the ultimate tourist, so I obviously had to visit the Empire State Building.  It was really strange though, my soul mate didn't run through the doors right as I was about to leave looking for me.  Ah well, maybe next time.

Goal for next winter: skate here, enjoy hot chocolate and have snow flakes in my eyelashes.  Cliche to the max, and loving it.

Happy Hump Day!

We're Beach People

Thought I would share some of my favorite photos from our recent trip to Port Aransas.  We all had a great time, but I think Mia might have enjoyed it the most.  C and her had a blast playing king of the hill on the beach.
Even when it's not really hot and sunny I love being by water.  So peaceful!
Kind of cool how close to the water some of the birds fly.
Mia found something to chew on..shocking, I know!
We also went to the infamous belt sander races at a bar called the Gaff.  Mia enjoyed herself here too :)
The race track... it was pretty fun to watch!
People decorated their belt sanders for the races, some were very creative.  They were hard to get a picture of because they were racing and flying by you, but I caught this one.
Mia and C's Dad.  She loved being around his parents.
And possibly my favorite picture of the whole trip.  Yes ladies, this is my boyfriend...feeling up a wooden mermaid on a boat.  Don't be jealous ;)

NYC in black & white

Last week I took a two day trip to New York for work.  I was lucky enough to have time to walk around and take in the city.  Since it was my first time visiting, I was a little star struck!

I loved the street culture that I was able to experience walking around.  Every corner had something different and new.
Did I mention the shopping?

I can't wait to go back!!!
